CPOBC POLICIES

If you think of the party as a pendulum, the party is not far right, nor is it far left.  It is right in the middle. That way, to benefit all the citizens, if the party needs to lean to the right, or the left it can, and will be. Another way to look at it, is that as it stands now, it is like a champagne glass fountain. The rich get all the benefits, and by the time it trickles down to the every day person, there is very little left. The Citizens Party of BC would be the opposite. Think of it as a chandelier. If we work from the bottom up, there will be benefits for everyone from the poor to the rich. There is no such thing as disposable people.

The first thing to do, is to address the problem of poverty in this province. Not only is it the people on fixed income, such as seniors, and people on assistance, but also those people who need two or three jobs just to make ends meet. Raising the minimum wage was a good start, but much more needs to be done.  I believe in leading by example, and have practical, boots on the ground, solutions.

The difference with the Citizen's Party of British Columbia, is that we will re-implement Human Rights.  As a result of the BC Liberal Party, BC has fallen into disarray.  Human Rights have been violated for too many years, and the Citizen's Party of British Columbia will be using the Human Rights framework.  All people are equal, and every person is therefore entitled to certain Rights.  For example, there is a right to adequate, affordable shelter.  This is not strictly a problem that needs attention by the charitable organizations, but includes Federal, Provincial, and Municipal levels of government.

It is time to stop picking out Only those Rights we wish to use, i.e., Civil and Political Rights, while ignoring Social and Economic Rights.
